Indigo. 4 months

I’ve been taking my Auntie duties very seriously and have been spending a lot of time with Indi lately. New parents need a break, yo! I love my time with her. I also love being able to give her back after a few hours of fun… I am so exhausted after such a short amount of time, seriously I don’t know how you moms do it!

But it is awesome to be around to watch her change & grow. She’s getting way more smiley these days. Her eyes are changing color. And she makes little sounds, oh that soft coo that just melts my heart! Here’s a photo taken earlier today… she’s wearing a cute little hoodie I got for her  ♥

I love photos like this…

black and white beauty

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about a fun quirky creative portrait or something that could have come straight off a magazine cover; it’s all in good fun! I do like to follow the industry trends and try out new ideas. And many of the photographers that I really admire have a very funky and unique style.

But my absolute favorite photos are photos like these. Photos that have soul. A moment that says something about the couple, where there lies a timeless beauty. I’m in this business to make art but mostly to tell a story and record moments in my client’s lives. I know it sounds totally cliche, but this is the true reason why I value my job. It’s such a honorable service I get to give. As I am finishing the final edit of Britany & Erik’s wedding photos, I fell head over heels in love with this picture and had to share.

me and my dawg

It was fun being on the other side of the camera for once! My lovely friend Laura took some portraits of me & Rocky for my 2009 holiday card. Laura is an awesome friend, confidant and caring soul. She works with me on the heart gallery project helping foster kids find real homes. And of course, she’s a fabulous photographer! Check out the results:

Violeta | san diego maternity photographer

Violeta scheduled a portrait session 2 weeks before her due date! And I’m so glad she did. Her and her husband were busy preparing & getting ready for their new years baby Isaac. And I just got word they delivered a healthy 7 lb. baby boy… Congrats to the happy family!

Brit & Erik | Ocean View Villas

Old hollywood glamour meets the beach? yes please! Twas the inspiration for Brit & Erik’s winter wedding at the Ocean View Villas and my last wedding of the year!

Brit & Erik met in Utah, currently live in Virginia and married here, destination San Diego! They had friends and family come from all over to join them in celebration. And we totally lucked out with a beautiful December day! The event was designed by the fantastic Brenda from Swann Soirees, florals by Paula Rae and music by the talented Michael Tiernan.

Home for the holidays

Welcome 2010! And to my very 1st blog post of the new year! Before 2009 quickly slips away, I wanted to wrap it up by sharing some images I took while home for the holidays.

The place I call home is Bolinas, CA… it’s about an hour north of San Francisco on the coast. Bolinas is a self-proclaimed “socially acknowledged nature loving town” and it is. The nature is insanely beautiful (I think I appreciate it now more than ever) and the residents are environmentally conscious & community oriented. It always keeps it’s small town feel and it’s a nice place to come home to. I am inspired in Bolinas; where the rolling hills meet the ocean, lagoon wildlife, the brightly colored produce from the local organic farms. On this trip I tried to capture some of what I love about my town, (work in progress)… I hope you enjoy it!

I was stoked to be able to capture Indigo’s first Christmas, since they were home visiting Leilani’s family. Bolinas set the stage for the beginning of our friendship over 10 years ago.
